Excitement is building for our 2nd Annual Newfoundland Ironman 70.3 on Sunday, July 27/08! Newfoundland Ironman 70.3 is known for its great organization, a unique vacation destination, and a great overall athlete experience. Our 2008 race is a Member Event of the Global Series and will offer 50 slots for the Ford Ironman World Championship 70.3 in Clearwater, Florida.
Newfoundland & Labrador is the place where the continents collided, Vikings discovered a new land, the sun rises first on North America, and the people share our hospitality and unassuming love for life like no where else! Newfoundland has an international reputation for an amazing triathlon experience and Newfoundland Ironman 70.3 delivers.
Our course is located in the spectacular Humber River Valley Region of western Newfoundland and presents a safe, challenging, and enjoyable day for all competitors. Race day begins at sandy Pasadena Beach and a swim start in the expansive fresh water of Deer Lake. The 3-point course is a moving start to your day as you complete a wet suit swim in pristine Canadian water.
The bike course meanders through a magnificent valley shouldered by forested mountains and the mighty Humber River. The 2-loop bike course stretches to a hilltop lookout and turnaround that rewards with a stunning view of Corner Brook and the Bay of Islands.
The final stage of the journey features an inspiring lakeside run along the scenic shores of Deer Lake in view of the tranquil surroundings of the golf course and luxury chalets at Humber Valley Resort.
